How much did tickets cost for first Super Bowl?

Tickets for the first Super Bowl, which was called the AFL-NFL World Championship and retroactively changed to Super Bowl I, were just $10 and $12. The game was played at Los Angeles Memorial Stadium on January 15, 1967, with 61,946 fans in attendance.

Believe it or not, newspaper editorial in 1967 claimed the football tickets were overpriced.

The winning players’ share for Green Bay Packers was $15,000 for each player. Each player for the Kansas City Chiefs received $7,500.

Both CBS and NBC televised the game. It was the only time that two networks aired the NFL title game. Cost for a 30-second commercial for either network was set at $42,000.

For Super Bowl LII (SB52) on February 4, 2018, ticket prices began at $950 and the ones given to NFL players being priced at $1,250. Some NFL luxury packages for the 52nd Super Bowl were priced up to $13,499. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New England Patriots, 41-33. Every Eagles player received a winning share of $112,000; every Patriots player received $56,000.

The cost of a 30-second advertisement on NBC’s broadcast of Super Bowl LII was more than $5 million, according to Sports Illustrated.

“An NBC Sports ad exec said today that the network will average more than $5 million for a 30-second spot for the Super Bowl,” the magazine’s Richard Deitsch tweeted before the game.
